To be fair, some people define feminist as someone who supports gender equality, so in that context the statement is partly valid. However, that definition is flawed in that not only is it inconsistent with the base of the word “feminist,” but it also assumes that promotion of women’s rights is the sole path to equality. This implies that there is no discrimination against men, which is a prejudice statement in itself, and completely ignores a huge social problem.
